Why have our leaders stopped answering uncomfortable questions?
The world’s largest democracy also happens to be a rainbow of cultures and religions. Laced with widespread poverty and other socioeconomic crisis, Indians look up to politicians for answers.
Guess it’s safe to say that our politicians haven’t exactly been at the top of their game to eradicate poverty. The Congress Party that has governed India for over half a century has left a major chunk of Indians disillusioned with them.
As a result, the Congress Party was ousted from its roots in the 2014 General Lok Sabha elections.
But things weren’t always so bad for the Congress Party. At one point in time, the Congress Party was the respite the people looked up to. It was the party most people trusted despite it being in question for a lot of things.
The Congress Party holds some skeletons in its closet, ones that will be sensitive to talk about. One would almost assume that no journalist back in the day would have the liberty to ask uncomfortable questions to our politicians, much like today.
However, to our surprise, we came across this video on Facebook where former Indian Prime Minister is addressing uncomfortable questions about her tenure as the Prime Minister, the mistakes of the Congress party and even the state of Emergency that ousted the Congress Party from government about 40 years ago.
